well, I am not sure exactly how it works... or even if you will be able to do it... but after Natalie and I confer momentarily about the details and re-post this as its own thread, we would like you to make that thread an announcement that stays at teh top of every page because this is a document of utmost importance

Greetings everybody! No-one probably cares, but I'm back, and completely exhausted. Seven hours in the car in the heat does that to me. Anyway, here I am.
That had nothing to do with anything, did it?

And that had nothing to do with anything? You think half of what Catherine and I say has anything to do with anything? Let's hear about it!

although, this does rather ruin our grand scheme to post a new announcement while administration was gone... Natalie, we shall have to go underground with our endeavours and post our grand constitution in secrecy... oh wait, I've just..... darmn...

Yay, you make me feel all warm and fuzzy and welcome!
Ok, here goes: The first two days of my trip were...how should I put this...hell? Awful? Pathetic? We were in the middle of nowhere for my mother's friends' reunion-cum-birthday-party-thing. (Funny snippet: At the time, I was reading Terry Pratchett's "The Last Continent". That is a book about someone who is stuck in a very hot place with loads of flies, and he really doesn't want to be there. Coincidentally, I was stuck in a very hot place with loads of flies, and I really didn't want to be there!)
Then we were with family for a week, it was great. I love visiting them, they're so much fun. Not to mention they're not in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, that week was complete relaxation.
The last just-under-a-week-which-we-came-back-slightly-early-from was also quite good, we were in a game reserve, saw so much! My uncle and aunt and cousin (the ones we had stayed with the week before) joined us for a bit. It was a nice relaxing time too.
So there you go. For the most part, it was a good holiday!
P.S. Catherine, you have my 'umblest apologies for ruining your scheme. Although posting that does rather ruin your plan...

oh that sounds amaaaazing. I'm so happy for you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
PS if you're really so sorry... you can just ignore it completely... pretend it never happened... tehy say ignorance is bliss!

well, in keeping wiht the theme of nothing having anything to do with anything, allow me to post a few quotes off the side of a box of tea bags:
"Friendships multipy joys and divide griefs." ~Thomas Fuller
" 'Stay' is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary." ~Louisa May Alcott
"Whenever you feel the need or wish to cheer yourself, think about all the good qualities of those who are around you -- the energy of one, for instance, the modesty of another, the generosity of a third, and some other gift of a fourth. For nothing is so cheering as the images of the qualities shining through in the character of those who live with us. ... Have these images then ever before your eyes." ~Marcus Aurelius

And staying with Catherine's theme...I make myself a calendar each year with quotes, so here's some from this year:
I rationalize shop. I think a lot of women do that. Like, I buy a dress because I need change for gum. Rita Rudner
How extravagant you are, throwing away women like that. Some day they may be scarce. From Casablanca
Time, places, people... They're all speeding up. So to cope with this evolutionary paranoia, strange people are chosen, who through their art can move progress more quickly. From Velvet Goldmine (Awesome movie by the way)
Now they show you how detergents take out bloodstains, a pretty violent image there. I think if you've got a T-shirt with a bloodstain all over it, maybe laundry isn't your biggest problem.Maybe you should get rid of the body before you do the wash. Jerry Seinfeld
