I read to them and ask them questions about the passages, assist with games, and watch them as they do their work/puzzles. Little kids are so funny.

i know this kind of close to the knuckle, at least i hope thats the phrase i've been saying stupid things all night, but i was just wandering what people's views were on Satanism here. i mean recently i've talked to a satanist, so i decided to buy the satanic bible, as i thought it would be interesting. and i discovered what it was all about, and nothing like what people always say about it. it's a really down to earth religion that makes total sense to me, and the book is basically most of my views commited to paper - it really suprised me. i'm just wandering what other's think of it, and what you like/dislike about it. Of course i dont want to start an argument or anything, so if you'd rather i dont talk about just say and i'll delete this post and wont bring it up again. ;D

Satanism, huh? Interesting (this is not said sarcasitically). I have been very interested in Paganism, actually, so just wanted to ask, is it anything like Wicca or anything like that?

I think this should spark an interesting discussion. ;-)
Not knowing much about Satanism, except what I've heard from my (Catholic) school, I looked it up on wikipedia (gotta love that site). It says that there are various types; Theistic Satanism involves worshipping the devil; Setianism revolves around the Egyptian god Set and follows the 'Left Hand Path'; LaVeyan Satanism, which is to do with Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible, rejects Christ and uses Satan as a symbol.
I believe that any religion one practices should bring good, and no harm. Therefore, I don't agree with the practices of sacrifice, nor with their rules/statements, such as about the treatment of others as you think they deserve. I think that perhaps there are some good elements in the theory, such as in "The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth", which state "Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked" and "Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them."

Hmm I am very interested to hear about it, Kim. I am a Catholic, but I really like to know about other religions. Right now I am reading a book, The Gift of Asher Lev, sequel to My Name is Asher Lev. They are by Chaim Potok, and are 2 of the best books I have ever read. The characters are almost all Hassidic Jews, a sect of Orthodox Judaism, I believe, and I am really enjoying learning so much about the Jewish faith. Not that Judaism has anything to do with Satanism that I know of....anyway, please inform is of what you know!

Oh, and another thing I wanted to complain about - that many, many people confuse Paganism in all it's forms with Satanism. They hear 'worshipping nature' or 'Pagan' and immediately think - 'they are evil!'

but don't people do the same to all religions, in some way?? for example, they may hear 'Catholic Church' and think 'rules, power-hungry, strict.' it's not so. People also, as you alluded to, hear 'Satanism' and think 'evil,' but, as Kim has been explaining to us, that is not always so either.

I completely agree! I wans't intentionally leaving that out, just making a point about specifically Paganism.
And anyway, it seems that what this world lacks is acceptance - first and foremost, of other people's beliefs.

perhaps a better word here than even 'acceptance' is 'understanding' - seeing another's point of view in an attempt to understand them... understanding that just because they are different, doesn't mean that they are wrong.

"Therefore, I don't agree with the practices of sacrifice, nor with their rules/statements, such as about the treatment of others as you think they deserve"
sorry going back a bit, as i've missed loads of replies i just want to adress this one first. Recently reading through the satanic bible i have just covered a section on 'human sacrifice'. And it seems i thought of it all wrong. first and foremost, unlike paganism, The sacrifice of animals is a definate no-no in satanism. Its thought of as the worst thing you can do in fact, as animal are a part of nature - and something satanists strive to be is one with themselves, a part of nature. they admire animals, so sacrificing them is aweful. now as for human sacrifices, this doesnt mean actually killing the 'victim' of the sacrifice. The point of human sacrifice is to ruin them mentally, take away all that they are without actually physically touching them. now it's far from nice, and i dont think i agree with it. but i just wanted to make that clear. And not to mention no target is chosen at random, these people that are subjected to it are people that have done something aweful to the satanist. Satanists beleive in treating others as they treat you, so if someone has done something unfrogivable to them then they themselves will be punished by the satanist. as for the other types of satanism, i havnt heard about that ^^ i'll have to check it out. But also i thought i'd clear up how satanists' that i know of, hold satan as a symbol. to the satanist, satan represents all our earthly desires, total freedom and whats natural on this earth. Whereas God, and satanists do beleive in God, doesnt help people truly embrace who they are on earth. giving rules and regulations to follow in order to get accepted into the afterlife. So people often restrict what they do in this life in order to be accepted into the next life. At least thats what satanists think, not sure if i totally agree with that though, i mean on the whole it would be fine. but there are those already with something off in their head who may see that and think that they can do anything on this earth; which includes evil acts, and not worry about it at all.

I know this is off-topic, but I was wondering what you guys thought about the lost/forbidden books of the Bible. I've been reading about them lately, and it's some really intriguing stuff.
