Well, that's no reassurance for me, seeing as I live the middle of no-where and movies come here like a month after their official release...

I can sympathise with you there - my movie release dates are pathetic. Dvds are even worse, but at least I can order from amazon.com.

I have many problems with the movie adaptations, but I still relish watching them. What really bothers me is that they changed the characters too much. Ron comes off as more stupid and scared than he really is; a lot of the lines when Ron says something intelligent are given to Hermione in the movies. And Hermione seems a bit too headstrong. To be sure, I think her valiant and strong, but she is also more scared in the books and more timid. (I am applying this to the earlier books.) But I do think her more strong then the crying at the Yule Ball scene in GOF. That was pretty sickening to watch. Emma seemed to overact throughout the movie, though.
But then again, everyone has different character interpretations, so I cannot really complain.

The one thing I absolutely hate about the movies is the fact that Michael Gambon is playing Dumbledore. He's never read any of the books at all, and he's actually confessed in an interview that he never really acts, he just plays himself "with a beard." To me, that seems like the most sure-fire way to ruin a character, which is exactly what I think he's done. I once heard someone mention that James Cosmo, who plays Father Christmas in the Chronicles of Narnia, would be perfect as Dumbledore. I totally agree. What do you guys think?

Yeah, Michael Gambon doesn't seem quite relaxed and placid enough to be Dumbledore. He also doesn't seem as introspective and pensive as I imagine Dumbledore to be.
I think Evanna Lynch should be a perfect Luna. There's been a recent interview with her.

Yeah, Luna is the only new character I am not concerned about. As to Gambon - no, he was not Dumbledore - he was too energetic, and did not have that 'wise and kindly' air he is supposed to have. I always saw Sir Ian McKellan as pulling the role of Dumbledore off perfectly.

Sir Ian McKellen refused to think of being Dumbledore, because he said he's played a great and noble wizard, and if he plays another wizard it'll ruin both. I think it's a wise move on his part.
